I'm Kalyn McKenzie, an actor.
My love for acting started when I was 12 years old at Casa MaƱana in Fort Worth, Texas. My very first production was Schoolhouse Rock Live!, where I played Dori. I didn't know exactly where acting would take me, but I knew it was something I wanted to keep doing.

Throughout high school and college, I stayed involved in theatre, performing in productions like High School Musical, Chicago, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Man of La Mancha, and All in the Timing.
I attended Everman High School, Tarrant County College, and Weatherford College, and those years gave me the chance to play different characters, learn from other performers, and really grow as an actor.
As much as I loved theatre, I eventually wanted to explore film and television. I love how different acting for the camera can be. Sometimes you don't even have to say anything for an audience to understand exactly what your character is feeling.
Since making that transition, I've had the opportunity to play Bralyn, a series regular in Black Girls in Nature, and work on projects including Stasis and Piecing It Together.
Here's a little fun fact about me: I absolutely LOVE movies that make me emotional. The Notebook and A Walk to Remember are two of my favorites. I can watch them over and over, already knowing what's going to happen, and still get emotional every single time.
I actually enjoy movies that make me cry. I know that probably sounds crazy, LOL, but I love being able to feel what those characters are going through.
And maybe that's one of the reasons I love acting so much. I've experienced what it's like to watch a performance and genuinely feel something because of it. I want to be able to give that same experience to someone else.
I don't know exactly where this journey will take me, but I'm excited to keep learning, growing, and taking on characters that challenge me.
And if I can make somebody laugh, cry, or feel something along the way, then that's what makes it all worth it.
